Title: Imaging movement from brain to spinal cord

Speaker: Meaghan Spedden (Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Functional Imaging Laboratory, UCL)

Location: In Person & Online via Zoom

Abstract: Movement is the only way we can affect and interact with the world, yet understanding the neural basis of this can be challenging with traditional neuroimaging. Optically Pumped Magnetometers (OPMs) offer something different: the ability to image the moving brain, and potentially the entire sensorimotor system, during real movement.

In this talk, I will present work on brain imaging during large-scale movement, the development of OPM-based spinal cord imaging and its challenges, and ongoing work characterising functional connectivity between brain, spinal cord, and muscle during voluntary contraction.
