Title: A primer on spinal cord imaging
Speaker: Olivia Kowalczyk (Dept. of Imaging Neuroscience UCL / Dept. of Neuroimaging KCL)
Location: In Person & Online via Zoom
Abstract: The spinal cord is an integral part of the central nervous system, connecting the brain and the periphery. While historically considered a simple relay, it is increasingly recognised for its active role in integrating and modulating sensorimotor information. Nonetheless, it has received relatively little attention in human neuroscience research. This talk reviews the recent methodological developments in spinal cord MRI and offers a practical guide to imaging this challenging structure, drawing on lessons from research into normative sensorimotor spinal cord function.
