Welcome to the Department of Imaging Neuroscience, home of the Functional Imaging Laboratory (FIL)

Over the past 25 years, the FIL has pioneered the development and application of imaging techniques to advance our understanding of the human brain. It continues to play a leading role in progressing and transforming research in many areas of cognitive and clinical neuroscience.

Scanning

Human neuroimaging allows us to non-invasively investigate brain structure and function.

Our imaging infrastructure

Reseach

Human brain functions we study include; Action, Decision Making, Emotion, Hearing, Language, Memory, Navigation, Seeing, Self awareness, Social Behaviour and the Bayesian Brain.

Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM)

Understanding how the human brain normally generates our behaviour, thoughts and feelings helps us to identify what goes wrong in neurological and psychiatric disorders and how these disorders might best be treated. Read more about our clinical impact.
